Arrest Made in Fatal Apartment Shooting Investigation

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested an 18-year-old male in connection with last month’s isolated shooting death of a teenager at an apartment complex.

Travis Gilmore, Junior is charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and Possession of a Firearm during a Violent Crime. Gilmore was located this morning by the United States Marshals Service’s Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes CPD. Gilmore will be housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

The suspect is accused of shooting three male teenagers after an argument about narcotics while at 3245 Lucius Road (Riverside Apartments) on April 20, 2022.  CPD officers found the 16-year-old male victim deceased at the scene. Officers rendered aid to the 17 and 18-year-old victims before they were taken to a hospital for treatment.  CPD investigators collected ballistic evidence from the scene with the assistance of a K-9 team.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
