Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 21-year-old female.
On June 7, 2022 officers were first dispatched to Prisma Health Richland for a report of a gunshot victim arriving.
Officers worked to determine where the shooting occurred. The investigation led officers to a Spalding Avenue home. Crime Scene teams went to the home and processed the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that the female went there and argued with a male acquaintance when the shooting occurred. Officers detained the male on scene and brought him to CPD Headquarters for questioning before being released.
CPD investigators remain in consultation with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office as the case continues.
