Man Charged with Committing Two Burglaries in the Same Day

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested and charged a 27-year-old male in connection with burglarizing two businesses in the same day.

Anthony Bockus (DOB: 7-8-1994) with Second Degree Burglary, Malicious Injury to Real Property and Petit Larceny.

Bockus is accused of staying inside the Harbison Boulevard Walmart past store hours and stealing multiple long guns from an enclosed glass case.

The suspect left the store but was later captured overnight near a Piney Grove Road convenience store.

Officers recovered all of the stolen firearms.

Also yesterday, the suspect is accused of breaking into Love Buick GMC on Saturn Parkway and stealing multiple key fobs to vehicles.

For this crime, Bocknus is also charged with Second Degree Burglary, Malicious Injury to Real Property, and Grand Larceny.

Video surveillance aided in the positive identification of the suspect.

Bockus will be housed at the Lexington County Detention Center.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
