Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have charged a 30-year-old man in connection with a shooting investigation.

Sequan Summerton was arrested by CPD, U.S. Marshal’s Service’s Carolinas Regional Task Force, and the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) yesterday and charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Firearm during a Violent Crime. Summerton remains housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center under a $100,000 surety bond set by a judge.

Summerton is accused of arguing with a male acquaintance while at 3800 Plowden Road (Plowden Road Apartments)  on June 16, 2022 and then shooting the victim in the face and body. The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
