Arrest Made in Assault and Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct Investigation

By August 11, 2022Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have arrested a 30-year-old male after being accused of assaulting a female inside a store last night.

Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces that a judge has denied bond for Christ Suave Davis (DOB: 4-02-1992) after being charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct – Third Degree.

Davis is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (AGDC). Based on the suspect’s alleged actions and criminal history, CPD requested bond denial.

Chief Holbrook stated, “This is one of the most egregious public attacks and attempts at criminal sexual conduct that I have seen in my 33 year law enforcement career. There is no better example of a violent sexual predator, and one who is a clear and present danger to our community.”

Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on August 10, 2022, Davis is accused of grabbing the 41-year-old female victim as she shopped inside the Walgreens store at 4467 Devine Street. Davis is further accused of throwing the victim to the ground and attempting to remove her clothing while he tried removing his pants.

A witness who heard the victim screaming for help called 9-1-1. After being subdued by good samaritans, CPD officers took Davis into custody.

Due to that immediate action and witnesses subduing Davis inside the store, CPD officers were able to quickly arrive on scene and arrest Davis.

Davis has previous convictions for Indecent Exposure after being charged by CPD and other law enforcement agencies.

Victim advocates with CPD’s Victim Services Unit are helping the victim. The case is assigned to the Special Victims Unit. (SVU)

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
