Crimestoppers: Columbia’s Greek Festival Equipment Stolen

By February 6, 2024Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) Property Crimes Unit (PCU) investigators are working to determine who stole thousands of dollars worth of kitchen and cooking equipment belonging to a well-known church.

The suspect (s) stole approximately $50-60, 0000 worth of merchandise owned by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. CPD officers responded to a storage facility at the 1900 block of Gregg Street last month regarding a variety of stolen supplies including multiple refrigerators, deep freezers, deep fryers, cooling tables, and food warming sets.

The victims tell CPD that the stolen items were more valuable to them than the cost of the merchandise. The items are crucial to the success of the annual ‘Columbia’s Greek Festival’, which has been a Cathedral tradition for more than thirty years.

CPD officers were able to find and seize valuable evidence at one of the crime scenes to aid the investigation.
