Crimestoppers: Financial Reward Offered by Anonymous Donor in Recovery of Stolen Greek Festival Equipment

By February 13, 2024Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) Property Crimes Unit (PCU) officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the theft of expensive kitchen equipment belonging to a well-known church.

Meanwhile, a citizen who wishes to remain anonymous is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect (s) and the recovery of equipment in the case.

Additionally, citizens are encouraged to provide an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers and earn a separate cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the crime.

Case Recap:

The suspect (s) stole approximately $50-60,000 worth of merchandise owned by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. CPD officers responded to a storage facility at the 1900 block of Gregg Street last month regarding a variety of stolen supplies including multiple refrigerators, deep freezers, deep fryers, cooling tables, and food warming sets.

The victims tell CPD that the stolen items were more valuable to them than the cost of the merchandise. The items are crucial to the success of the annual ‘Columbia’s Greek Festival’, which has been a Cathedral tradition for more than thirty years.
