Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators are working with the Richland County Coroner’s Office to determine how a man died after being found in Finlay Park.
A passerby saw something suspicious in a pond at the park and called 9-1-1. When CPD officers arrived on scene, they confirmed that a body was submerged in water.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office assisted in removing the body; Columbia Fire crews and Richland County deputies were also on scene.
The Coroner’s Office will determine how the man died and if the death was criminal in nature.
