Sisters Accused of Assault during Exorcism Attempt

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a 28-year-old female accused of assaulting a woman during an attempted exorcism.

Brittany Jones (DOB: 6-17-1989), who was arrested last week, is charged with Assault – First Degree and Kidnapping.

Jones is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) under a $100,000 bond.

The suspect is accused of holding the 56-year-old female victim against her will for an extended period of time while at 100 Lorick Circle on March 19, 2018.

Additionally, Jones allegedly assaulted the victim in the upper and lower body with a cross because she believed the victim was ‘possessed,’ and attempted to perform an exorcism on her.

The victim, who managed to escape and get help from a neighbor, was taken a local hospital for medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

CPD investigators also have outstanding arrest warrants for Jones’ co-defendant and sister, 26-year-old Tiara Jones.

Arrest warrants for Assault – First Degree and Kidnapping have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database for Tiara Jones.
